baby, child, infant, youngster
這些名詞均有“孩子”之意。
1.baby : 日常用詞，一般指從剛出生的嬰兒到滿兩歲的或非常小的孩子，常含鐘愛(ài)意味。
例如：Don't be a baby and cry over that little scratch.(別那么孩子氣, 擦破點(diǎn)皮就哭個(gè)不停。)
2.child : 普通用詞，含義廣，無(wú)感情色彩。泛指從胎兒、嬰兒到10歲左右的兒童。
例如：Children, be careful not to drop your drinks.(孩子們，當(dāng)心點(diǎn)，別灑了你們的飲料。)
3.infant : 書(shū)面用詞，狹義指出生后到兩歲的小孩，廣義指7歲以下的孩子;法律上則指未到法定年齡。
例如：The sole survivor of the crash was an infant.(這次撞車的惟一幸存者是一個(gè)嬰兒。)
4.youngster : 泛指任何年齡的兒童或者少年，多指男孩，多為年長(zhǎng)者的使用。
例如：Her lively youngsters keep her on the jump.(她的那些活潑好動(dòng)的孩子使她忙個(gè)不停。)
cigar, cigarette, tobacco
這些名詞均有“煙”之意。
cigar : 指雪茄煙。
I lit a cigar to calm my nerves.(我點(diǎn)燃了一支雪茄煙使自己的神經(jīng)平靜下來(lái)。)
cigarette : 指紙煙。
He crushed out the cigarette.(他把煙滅了。)
tobacco : 指煙草，煙葉、煙絲。
This shop is licensed to sell tobacco.(這家商店獲準(zhǔn)經(jīng)銷煙草商品。)
This is amild tobacco.(這是一種味淡的煙。)
