From Monday until Friday most people are busy working or studying, but in the evenings and on weekends they are free to relax and enjoy themselves. Some watch television or go to the movies; others participate in sports. It depends on individual interests. There are many different ways to spend our spare time.
Almost everyone has some kind of hobby. It may be anything from collecting stamps to making model airplanes. Some hobbies are worth a lot of money; others are valuable only to their owners.
I know a man who has a coin collection worth several thousand yuan. A short time ago he bought a rare ten-yuan piece worth 250 yuan. He was very happy about the purchase and thought the price was reasonable. On the other hand, my son collects match boxes. He has almost 600 of them but I doubt if they are worth any money. However, to my son they are extremely valuable. Nothing makes him happier than to find a new match-box for his collection.
That's what a hobby means, I guess. It is something we like to do in our spare time simply for the fun of it. The value in money is not important, but the pleasure it gives us is.
【雅思寫(xiě)作與大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四六級(jí)寫(xiě)作之間的差別】
事實(shí)上，大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四六級(jí)寫(xiě)作與雅思寫(xiě)作之間的差別還是很大的。
首先，單純地從詞匯量上來(lái)說(shuō)，大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四、六級(jí)寫(xiě)作要求120-150個(gè)單詞的樣子，但雅思寫(xiě)作的字?jǐn)?shù)要求是250格子，幾乎是前者的兩倍。這說(shuō)明在相應(yīng)的考試時(shí)間里面，雅思對(duì)證明理由的要求遠(yuǎn)高于四六級(jí)考試，雅思寫(xiě)作要求考生在短時(shí)間內(nèi)能夠運(yùn)用發(fā)散性思維聯(lián)想出相關(guān)信息，不僅是對(duì)考生詞匯掌握程度的一大考驗(yàn)，也對(duì)其思辨能力有很高的要求。
其次，從證明內(nèi)容來(lái)看，四六級(jí)寫(xiě)作要的是對(duì)一個(gè)理由的闡述，而雅思寫(xiě)作要的是從多角度、多方面，辯證的證明理由，并且每個(gè)理由都要證明完整，可以有側(cè)重點(diǎn)，但是，最忌諱的就是羅列觀點(diǎn)而無(wú)任何的證明，基本上這樣的文章只能拿五分，而在四六級(jí)寫(xiě)作則沒(méi)有這樣的情況發(fā)生。雅思寫(xiě)作要求建議大家一定要請(qǐng)?zhí)崆傲私庖幌�，雅思�?xiě)作技巧希望大家能夠多多總結(jié)。
最后，四六級(jí)是國(guó)內(nèi)考官閱卷，從文化上來(lái)說(shuō)，幾乎不可能就英式證明、英式思維對(duì)學(xué)生有過(guò)多的要求，反而加大了對(duì)句子長(zhǎng)度和復(fù)雜度的近乎瘋狂的頂禮膜拜，結(jié)果造就很多考生走入寫(xiě)作誤區(qū)，以為詞匯漂亮、深?yuàn)W、句子爆長(zhǎng)就能拿高分!而在雅思考試中，這樣的情況很容易判低分，這就是為什么很多考生很郁悶，百思不得其解的原因，我們經(jīng)常遇到留學(xué)生四六級(jí)考514分，雅思只考6分的情況，更有甚者，閱讀、聽(tīng)力都是九分，而寫(xiě)作只有5.5分!
很多學(xué)生想去復(fù)查，總以為是其他非考試因素影響了成績(jī)，其實(shí)是對(duì)雅思寫(xiě)作的不理解甚至誤解。雅思寫(xiě)作非常強(qiáng)調(diào)英式寫(xiě)法和地道的英語(yǔ)表達(dá)，要想考高分，勢(shì)必要對(duì)英式寫(xiě)作有較好的學(xué)習(xí)和認(rèn)知。
當(dāng)然，英式寫(xiě)作強(qiáng)調(diào)用復(fù)雜的句子和嚴(yán)密的句式證明自己的內(nèi)容，但它也強(qiáng)調(diào)句與句的銜接、連貫、長(zhǎng)短句的使用，和分詞、不定式的表達(dá)，因此，如果沒(méi)有掌握基本的英式寫(xiě)作就會(huì)出現(xiàn)大的問(wèn)題，因?yàn)橛?guó)考官在這方面很敏感和很?chē)?yán)格。
舉個(gè)例子，有這么一句中文：“有越來(lái)越多的人看電視”。某考生將其譯為英文："More and more people who spend more and more time on TV watch more and more"。這樣的翻譯顯然是不正確的，暴露出其對(duì)詞匯的掌握不足，特別是句子的表達(dá)不夠地道的問(wèn)題。正確的譯法應(yīng)為："The number of people who watch TV regularly is on the rise"。通過(guò)對(duì)"數(shù)字"一詞作為主體內(nèi)容的表述達(dá)到應(yīng)有的效果，此句子也沒(méi)有什么詞匯，但表達(dá)英式化，很符合英國(guó)人的口味。
